NEW YEAR, NEW LEAGUE

The River Valley Speech and Debate League is kicking off it's very first tournament EVER! This fall the Arkansas Communications and Theatre Arts Association membership voted to establish it's first regional league. The hopes of this league are to: help create teams in schools where they do not exist or to provide existing teams with a means to compete in a meaningful way. Each of the first few tournaments will only consist of a handful of events so that schools do not feel overwhelmed.

The league can consist of teams from any high school in the following counties:Yell County, Logan County, Pope County, Conway County, Perry County, Johnson County

The first tournament is expecting teams from Bigelow High, Morrilton High School and Dardanelle High School!

We had a slight snafu with our trophy order. The word 'Speech' was misspelled. Instead of worrying about it we are going to model for our student how to roll with the punches. In doing so, I have renamed our inaugural Tournament "We're Just Peachy"because the trophies say "River Valley Speach and DebateLeague" . I will also hand out peaches to the trophy winners on Saturday to make it a little more fun as well!

Tournament Dates:

Thursday: September 29th- 4:30pm-8:00pm

Saturday: October 1st- 8:00am-12:00pm
