Greetings, 

The Moorhead HS Debate Team is excited to welcome teams from Minnesota and North Dakota to our first Congressional Debate Tournament, held at Moorhead High School on Saturday, Oct. 15. The legislation packet is now posted on our Tabroom site. 

Schedule: 

Registration: 7:30-8:00 am

Session I: 8:30-10:30 am

Break: 10:30-10:45 am

Session II: 10:45 am -12:45 pm

Lunch: 12:45-2:00 pm

Finals: 2:00-4:00 pm

Awards: 4:30 pm or ASAP

We plan on offering two divisions of debate, Varsity and JV/Novice. 

Because many expected participants were not given an opportunity to submit legislation, all author and school names have been removed, allowing all debaters an opportunity to deliver sponsorship speeches. Special thanks to the MDTA and NSDA for curating a variety of legislation for this weekend. 

Direct questioning will be used in all sessions in both divisions; however, we will not utilize a preset speaking order. Presiding Officers are expected to recognize precedence and recency, resetting after each session. 

Should entry numbers warrant multiple chambers in a division, we will advance the top students from each chamber to a final round. Consolation chambers may be assembled based on entry levels and judge availability. Awards will be given to the top 8 students in each division. 

A judge hospitality lounge will be available throughout the day. Concessions will be available for purchase for all students.
