Invitational Speech Tournament

Dear Friends,

You are cordially invited to the 6th Annual Screamin' Eagles Speech Tournament on Saturday, October 17, 2020.   Our goal is to give your students a good opportunity to perform in the quickest possible manner.

This tournament is open to all high school degree-granting institutions.  

We are NOT accepting independent entries 

We will offer three rounds and a final in all California H.S. speech events: Oratory, Informative, Advocacy, Extemp, Impromptu, Drama, Humor, POI, OPP, Oratorical and Duo in both Varsity and Novice Divisions.

A NOVICE student is any competitor in their first year of high school speech competition.

This tournament will be in person on the campus of Gabrielino HS, in San Gabriel, CA

ADULT COACH/COACH  Each team must have a school approved adult coach/chaperone on campus for immediate contact throughout the tournament.

SCHOOL VERIFICATION:  Every school entering that is NOT a member of the Southern California Debate League (SCDL) OR any school that has NOT attended our tournmanet in the past must submit the School Verification form - located on the right side of this page - by to October 5th or risk having their entire entry dropped.

JUDGES: Schools are required to bring 1 judge for every 5 entries or fraction thereof. \

SCHEDULE:   (tentative) All events run at the same time

Round 1       8am

Round 2      10am  

Round 3      12pm   

Finals           3pm

FEES:  Each entry (including Duo) is $10.    Fees will be frozen at 3pm (PST) on Monday, October 10.   There will be a $15 school fee

Credit Card payment will be accepted but will incur an additional 3% fee

More info on credit card payments will be posted after September 18^th.

REGISTRATION will begin at 7:15 A.M. and end at 7:45A.M. by the adult coach/chaperone listed.

AWARDS  Awards will be given to the top 6 entries in each event, each division and presented at the awards (OUTSIDE) ceremony in the covered eating area.

Drops/Name changes can be made on the website until Monday, Oct 10 @ 3pm

Fees are frozen at 3pm on Monday, Oct. 10

IN A JUDGE EMERGENCY: e-mail yuilld@sgusd.net and we may be able to cover some of your judges for the added fee of $150 per judge.
