Salado High School Presents The Tournament that Teaches
Online September 17th, 2022
Welcome to the “Tournament That Teaches” for novice and varsity competitors. In the morning, novice students will participate in educational sessions conducted by some of the best instructors in the state and in the afternoon they will have “educational” rounds. Novice students will be provided with cases, briefs and other materials.
New to this year we will be adding intermediate/advanced lectures for the varsity CX and LD students to attend in the morning. There will be two lectures during each time slot. Students may pick which lecture they would like to attend for each time slot. In the afternoon, varsity students will have two rounds.
We will offer all traditional UIL speaking events (CX debate, LD debate, Congress, Persuasive, Information, Prose and Poetry. These tournaments are intended for schools or teams that prefer "UIL style" forensics.
We will be using tabroom for registration and balloting. We will use NSDA campus for virtual rounds.

Keep in mind students will need to have their own tabroom account created and linked to the school/institution they attend and an email address attached/linked to their account.

Congress, Interp, Extemp $20 per competitor
LD $30 per competitor
CX $40 per team
Judge Fees
1 judge for every 2 entries or less for CX or a missing judge fee of $150
1 judge for every 4 entries or less for LD or a missing judge fee of $125
1 judge for every 6 entries or less for IE/Congress or a missing judge fee of $125

TOPICS
CX Debate: Policy debate will use the 2022 - 2023 topic.
Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its security cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, biotechnology, cybersecurity.
LD Debate: LD Debate will use the UIL Fall 2022 topic.
Resolved: Amateur status ought to be valued above commodification of Name Image Likeness.

NOTE: Due to outstanding balances over the last two years that have been unpaid. We reserve the right to refuse participation to any school that hasn’t paid leading up to the tournament. We request that all payments be made three days prior to the start of the tournament.
