Forensics Coaches Invitational

2022 — Lansing, KS/US

KS Forensics Coaches,

We are excited to invite you and your team to participate in the 2022 FCI (Forensics Coaches Invitational) tournament.  The idea for this tournament began several years ago and is modeled after the DCI (Debate Coaches Invitational) tournament.  FCI is an "all-state" unofficial state tournament with the” best of the best” in Kansas from all classifications.

We are excited to be able to offer the FCI in person again at Lansing High School. The 2022 FCI tournament will be Saturday, April 30.

2022 FCI Qualification System

A student needs at least one of the following per event to qualify:

·  Two state champ qualifications, OR

·  National qualification (NIETOC, NCFL and/or NSDA), OR

·  Combination of 1 state championship qualification and a least placing an

additional time in that same event at a second tournament.

Entry Limits & Judge Requirements

Each school will receive an initial 12 entries, and if space allows, will be allowed up to 16 entries.   Coaches will enter via Tabroom.  The entry deadline is Monday, April 25.  The tabroom link will go live on April 2.  Entry Fees are $10 per student (DUO and IDA are $20) to be paid to the host school (this year that would be Lansing High School).  This includes a provided luncheon.

The judge requirement is 1 judge for every 3 entries.  To prepare for state and post-season competition, we want the FCI competitors to receive very valuable feedback on their ballots.  If possible, we ask that head coaches be one of your required judges.  Please carefully pick judges who will provide meaningful feedback.

We will also ask for any additional state qualifications earned by each school's current FCI qualifiers in their respective events for the purpose of the all-season sweepstakes winner.

We will continue the tradition of taking a picture with each event winner and their head coach.

Student Performances

We will continue our tradition of allowing peers to nominate students to perform for everyone.  Six performances will be nominated to perform. The week leading up to the tournament, a ballot will be shared with attending coaches.
