Dear colleagues,

The McMillen High School Speech & Debate team cordially invites you to the first McMillen Lions Den TFA Congress IE Tournament on Saturday, February 12, 2022.

We are excited and eager to provide an IN-PERSON tournament experience. However, we are monitoring the situation with Covid. Should the necessity arise, we will move to an online format. Registrants will be alerted in a timely manner should this change occur.

Congress and all qualifying TFA IE events plus Prose, Poetry, and Impromptu Speaking will be offered. All Congressional debaters are eligible to cross-enter into Pattern B events (Extemp, DI, Poetry, Duo, OO). For IEs with 24 or more entries, there will be 2 prelims, a semi, and a final. For IEs with fewer than 24 entries, there will be 3 prelims and a final.

We will provide a catered hospitality room for judges and coaches with breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and drinks. A well-stocked concession stand will be available for students to purchase snacks and meals courtesy of our invaluable Plano Eastside Boosters. TFA and Plano ISD COVID protocols will be followed to ensure the health and safety of our community. We strongly encourage all attendees, vaccinated or not, to wear a mask. Every effort will be made to provide adequate social distancing. We will do our best to section off tables for each school in the gym. The expectation is that schools stay in their designated areas when not competing. Competitors may remove their mask while actively presenting to a judge. (If a student remains masked while performing, make sure they are projecting!) Please, do not attend the tournament if you are presenting with Covid symptoms, have tested positive for Covid, or live with someone who is symptomatic or has tested positive for Covid.
