Murray Middle Hosts Kentucky High Schools ASYNC Speech Tourney

Welcome to the Murray Middle High School Hosts Kentucky Schools ASYNC Speech Tournament! THIS TOURNAMENT IS EXCLUSIVELY FOR KENTUCKY HIGH SCHOOLS. With COVID-19 spread still of great concern, our tournament will be totally ASYNCHRONOUS. So, we look forward to having you VIRTUALLY join us! Entry fees for the competition will be $10 each ($20 for Duo and Improv Duo entries). Schools will be allowed to enter students into as many events as they wish to enter. SCHOOLS MUST SUPPLY THE APPROPRIATE NUMBER OF JUDGES AND THOSE JUDGES MUST MEET THEIR OBLIGATIONS.
Teams are required to provide 1 judge for every 6 entries into the competition. Teams will be assessed fines as indicated by the tabroom.com website if they drop entries the day of the tournament and/or do not have the promised judges as entered into tabroom.com.
Platform
We will be using Tabroom.com for competition. Preliminary AND final rounds will be prerecorded. All judges will need to have registered on Tabroom.com and have technology available to effectively compete judge rounds.
Events
The tournaments will host the following fourteen Forensics events will following the Kentucky High School Speech League (KHSSL) rules for competition:
Speech Events
Preliminary rounds will be judged asynchronously using pre recorded performances January 18-20 and finals will be judged asynchronously January 21-22. Recordings are due in Tabroom by Tuesday, January 18 at 7pm CENTRAL TIME. Student recordings should include the entire view of the student with good sound and lighting in the performance. The recording device should be stationary for the entire performance. The link can be shared by pasting the link in the ‘Link’ section of their entry when you register them in Tabroom.
Limited Prep
Limited Prep prompts released to coaches on Sunday, January 16th at NOON CENTRAL TIME. Registration and performances are due by Tuesday, January 18th at 7pm CENTRAL TIME. Students and coaches should respect the integrity and prep time rules for this event. Performances should be recorded once and utilize only the amount of prep time reserved per event rules. Impromptu and Improv prep must be recorded. Broadcasting will be competing using a prepared script for round 2. Student recordings should include the entire view of the student with good sound and lighting in the performance. The recording device should be stationary for the entire performance. The link can be shared by pasting the link in the ‘Link’ section of their entry when you register them in Tabroom.
Entries
Performances will be pre-recorded (due Tuesday, January 18th at 7pm CENTRAL) and the same recordings will be used for both prelims and finals. Teams may have unlimited entries, but coaches must have judges at the ready to fulfill their obligations. We will work together to keep the tournament running smoothly and on time.
Entry Fees
Students entered into individual events will pay a fee of $10 per entry. Duo Interp and Improv Duo entries will pay a fee of $20 per entry.
Student Drop Fees
Drops- Entry fee plus $20 per entry after the January 18th 7pm CENTRAL deadline. Substitutions not allowed.
JUDGES ENTRY
All judges should be familiar with KHSSL rules and ballots ALL JUDGES MUST HAVE A TABROOM.COM ACCOUNT IN ORDER TO BE PLACED ON YOUR JUDGING ROSTER. All judges will be considered for all events and should be prepared for competition accordingly.
Speech prelim rounds will be held asynchronously and judges may complete them anytime between January 19 and 20. Prelim judging will close at 9pm CENTRAL on January 20th. Finals for speech events will be announced on Friday via Tabroom and ballots will be released for judges that day. Those FINAL ROUND ballots are due to be finished by 10AM CENTRAL SATURDAY (1/22) MORNING.
Teams are required to provide 1 judge for every 6 entries into the competition. 6 entries = one judge, 7 entries = 2 judges, etc. Remember that Duo Interpretation and Improvisational Duo count as 1 entry here.
We want your judges! In the event you cannot provide the required number of judges, you may hire judges for $50 each.

JUDGES DROP FEES
Any judging drops occurring prior to will be charged $50 for each round missed. Judging substitutions are free.
AWARDS
Awards will be mailed out for the top six entries in each category AND for the top three schools in the tournament. The awards ceremony will be shared Saturday evening.
