Hot Springs County HS Bobcat Invitational

2022 — Thermopolis, WY/US

2022 Bobcat Invitational

Hot Springs County High School

Saturday, February 12, 2022

Welcome to the 2022 Bobcat Invitational!  This year's tournament will be a one-day in-person event , and we can't wait to see you all here!

We will be offering varsity for all main events this year.  The tournament will be at Hot Springs County High School.

Initial entries are due Jan 29, 2022. Additional entries may be added until Sunday, Feb. 6.

Drops will be accepted through Friday, Dec. 11 at 9pm. After this deadline, the entry fee will be forfeited.

Registration will begin at 7:30am on Saturday, Feb. 12th in the commons.

A coach/judge lounge will be in the high school with snacks/meals and plenty of coffee available.

Students will be able to purchase snack items from the concession stand.

Pool Party (we are still confirming this with the Teepee)! The Teepee Pool is cutting us a deal and giving us exclusive time in the hot pools for Speech and Debate competitors.  If students want to swim and soak in the healing mineral waters of the hot springs, it is $8 each on Friday night.  We will have the whole pool reserved for Tournament competitors from 8-10:00pm.  Please immediately email us with rough numbers for students that you think will take advantage of the discounted entry and come swim with us!

Entry fees:
Entry fees will be $10 per individual student, $15 for duet and debate debate teams.

We have to limit the number of entries per event (see below) due to room and judging constraints, but please, put your students on the waiting list! I will move as many as I can into rounds as space allows. I will try to put in final moves/entries by 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11th.  Be aware that our room availability will make us put a top on total entries.

HOPE, POI, Duo, and Drama will be limited to three (3) per school for each event. Wait list entries will be accepted. Congress will be limited to five (5) entries per school. Wait list entries will be accepted.

Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum will be limited to four (4) per school. Wait list entries will be accepted.

Doubling is allowed, but this is always undertaken at the competitor’s own risk.

**Debate Topics**
LD - Jan/Feb NSDA Topic
PF - Feb NSDA Topic
CX - 2021-2022 NSDA Topic

**Congress**
We will pull bills from the Wyoming Congress Database. The docket will be released on Feb. 5, 2022 and posted on tabroom. Please ensure your congress competitors are registered by that date and that their legislation is loaded into the Wyoming database by then as well. We will have an Equity Office available at our tournament.

Judges:
If you have judges you can bring with you, please, please do! We will do our best to get judges from the community, but I imagine we will need help from any traveling judges and coaches as well.

Awards:
We will begin awards in the gym ASAP after finals. Medals will be awarded to the first three finishers in each event.  4th through 6th place will also receive an award. Sweeps will be awarded for the top two big schools (4/A and 3/A) and the top two small schools (1/A and 2/A).

Masks are recommended for all competitors while inside the HSCHS building. Social distancing is requested whenever possible. State rules will be applicable unless otherwise stated in this invite.
