Fairview Freeze NIETOC Bid

2022 — NSDA Campus, CO/US

THE BIG STUFF:

  • We are a NIETOC bid tournament! The number of bids will be based on the number of entries in each event. See more: http://nietoc.com/.

  • Pre-registration of entries is due Monday, January 10th @ 7pm mtn.

  • Asynchronous recordings and all judges must be added by Wednesday January 12th @ 7pm mtn. Judges for live events can be updated by Friday, January 14th @ 7pm mtn.

  • We will be using Tabroom and rounds will be on NSDA campus, except draw events which will be held in Zoom. All student NSDA/tabroom accounts must be linked prior to the tournament. Teams are responsible for checking tech set-up and access to NSDA campus.

  • Initial entry limit of 6 per event, but we anticipate clearing the waitlist.

  • $8 per asynchronous entry; $10 per live competitor.

  • Each school is responsible for providing judges to cover their entries. Please provide 1 judge for every 2 debate entries or every 6 IEs; please reach out if this is prohibitive. We will recruit heavily from our community. We will not pay judges who are meeting a school’s judging requirement.

  • Debaters may only double in asynchronous events; students in live IEs may double across IEs with the risk of lost prep time and the responsibility to get to rounds; all students may enter asynchronous events. Limit 3 events per student.

  • Events will use NSDA rules with NSDA topics (CHSAA for Value Debate/Impromptu/Creative Storytelling);

  • A coach or responsible adult that can judge must be online and available at all times during the tournament. We will request contact information.

  • We ask everyone to follow and respect the NSDA harassment and discrimination policy which can be found at https://www.speechanddebate.org/equity/

Events & Schedule: All times in Mountain

  • Topic areas for Prepared Prompt Speaking & Prepared Commentary will be sent the morning of January 10th.

  • Students may enter in both live and asynchronous individual events (i.e. live OO and asynchronous OO).

  • Debaters may only double in asynchronous events.

  • Students in live IEs may double across IEs with the risk of lost prep time and the responsibility to get to rounds.

  • All students may enter asynchronous events. Limit 3 events per student. (Examples: 1 Live debate entry and 2 async or 2 live IE events and one async event.)

  • Asynchronous events will be judged by Friday, January 14th. Videos are due by Wednesday January 12th @ 7pm mtn.
