Invitation Letter Sent to Schools

Dear ICDA Debate Coach:

Elk Grove High School would like to invite you and your debaters to the third Illinois Congressional Debate Association tournament of the 2021-2022 school year. 

Entry Deadline:          

·      Entries are due by 5:00 P.M. Friday, November 5, 2021.  You will need to enter your debaters in Tabroom. Make sure to indicate which students are participating in the junior varsity portion of the tournament and which students are participating in the varsity portion. 

Fees:                             

·      The entry fee is $10 for each debater whether JV or Varsity – based upon the original registration. 

·      Please make checks payable to Elk Grove High School. If checks need to be mailed, please send them to the following address:

Judging:                         

·      One ICDA Certified judge is required for every ten entries (or fraction thereof – so 11 students would require 2 full-time judges).

·    Judges should be entered on Tabroom no later than Wednesday, November 10th at 5 PM.

·    All judges should have a Tabroom account that is linked to your school.

·      A full-time judge is considered as someone who judges THREE full rounds over the one-day period.  

·      Please expect that your judges will judge three rounds.

·      Judging assignments will be posted at the tournament.

·      Judging assignments will not be available until the day of the tournament.

·      Judging assignments and responsibilities will be based upon original registration at the entry deadline.  No new judge training will be held.

·      It is the responsibility of the head coach to ensure that ALL hired judges are trained and prepared to judge the event.

Legislation:                   

·      Submissions for the December 18th ICDA Tournament (ICDA IV) must be submitted to Tabroom with your ICDA 3 registration on November 5th.

Food:                             

·      Coaches and Judges will receive breakfast and lunch on Saturday.

·      Food for competitors and students WILL NOT be provided. You are welcome to order food to be delivered to the school. If you order, please ask that it be delivered to door 30 (near the library) or door 29 (near the lunchroom). Some of the local options include Jimmy John’s, Jersey Mike’s, Vini’s, Chipotle, Panera, and Little Caesar’s.

·      Lunches for judges and coaches will be individually boxed. The options are:

1) Cheese personal pizza with a side caesar salad 

2) Personal Pepperoni pizza with a side Caesar salad 

3) Italian beef sandwich with a side Caesar salad

4) Mostaccioli (no meat) with a side caesar salad

Please place your orders for all coaches and judges using this link no later than Monday, November 8th. All orders should be submitted in ONE order per school.

Parking:                      

Since there will be multiple events taking place at our school on Saturday, upon your arrival, please direct your bus to the southeast parking lot (football field side of the building) which is most easily accessed from the entrance off of Arlington Heights Road. Everyone should enter the building through Door 29 which is the door with the canopy.
