The Lone Star District Committee is excited to host the 2022 NSDA Congress and Debate Qualifying tournament this year. Please review the following information:
1. Registration - Tabroom -We are using Tabroom for registration/invoicing/tabulation.
2. In person Congress and Virtual Debate - Congress will be held at Prestonwood Academy. Debate will be held via NSDA Campus
3. Dates
Congress - April 28 @ Prestonwood School
Debate- April 29-30 (NSDA Campus)
4. Fees
District fee - $85 (to schools that did not compete in Speech
Platform Fee - $40 for Debate virtual platform
Congress - $40
Congress Hospitality Fee $20
Debate-$80
Platform Fee - $40 for Debate virtual platform
5. Judges - If you know of some good congress judges please let Robert Shepard robert.shepard@pissd.edu or Meg Wilson megparkerwilson@gmail.com know. We will use 2 scorers and 1 Parli per House chamber , 2 scorers and 1 Parli per Senate Chamber.
6. Qualifying numbers -
Congress
The number of Senate and House qualifiers is independent of all other district tournament benchmark standards. a. Senate A district with eight (8) or more schools represented in the Senate will qualify two (2) senators to the National Senate. If fewer than eight (8) schools are represented, no Senate may be seated
b. Representatives A district must have a minimum of 16 competitors to seat a House of Representatives. Refer to the chart below to determine number of House chambers and advancement to the National House (note that the number of students in the far left column is based on participation—speaking or presiding at least once):

Debate We are Level 3 again this year; that means we allowed three entries to the National Tournament in every speech and debate event as long as at least 10 entries in each event compete in at least one round.
