Welcome to the 2022 Sierra District National Qualifier for Speech and Debate Events.

***** Please see the Congress, World Schools, and Coach Award pages for more up to date information******

The Schedule- please see the schedule under the "Schedule" tab. Note that the preliminary rounds for debate will be held on online.

Online Debate: Please be sure that your students can access the NSDA campus rooms. They should be able to open a test room from their Tabroom accounts. It is vital that you work with your debaters to make sure they have access prior to the start of the tournament. We will not be able to hold the tournament for access issues.

Judges: Please be sure to provide judges. For the online debate rounds, you will need to ensure that your judges have created Tabroom accounts. We will only be using online ballots for the 4 preliminary debate rounds on Thursday and Friday. So judges that will be attending on Saturday do not need to create Tabroom accounts.

Judge Resources: Please share these Judge Resources with those judges that will be judging debate online on Thursday and Friday.

How to Create a Tabroom Account

Money- Please print your invoice from Tabroom and bring a check on Saturday. If you are unable to get a check by Saturday- please be sure to bring/mail a check prior to the Nat Quals Congress tournament on 4/2. If you owe money the the NSDA - you MUST have it paid before your students begin competing (either on the 17th for debate or the 19th for speech only).

Debate- We will be utilizing Single Elimination for all debate events. Details on this are available in the NSDA High School manual. Because we have online rounds we will be using the "New Guidelines for Use of Internet-Enabled Devices in Debate Events" (HS Event Rules Manual pg 28-29).

Speech - There will be 3 preliminary rounds for all speech events. However, speech events with 7 or less entries will NOT have a final round. Events with 8 or more entries will cut directly (top 6) to Finals after the 3 preliminary rounds. All speech rounds are in person, on Saturday the 19th, at Clovis East HS. We will use 2 judges for preliminary rounds 1 and 2 and if we can, 3 for round 3 (2 if we don't have enough).

Coaches- it is your responsibility to make sure that you and your students are aware of the NSDA event rules. Also be sure you have completed the NSDA forms section of registration (Single Entry Preferences and Consent Forms).
