Virtual Tournament
Novice Debater: A student who is debating for the first year in high school. If it is a team event, both students must be novices. If a student has competed in either Parli, Public Forum, Policy, or LD in previous years while in high school, they are no longer a novice in debate.
Fees: TCFL Dues if this is your first TCFL Tournament of the season. Make checks payable to Tri-County Forensic league.
Tentative Schedule (All Rounds Single Flight)
8:00 - 8:30 Registration (coaches, judges, & students meet in Assembly room)
8:30 - 9:30 Judge Orientation
9:30 - 11:00 Rd I
11:00 - 12:30 Rd II
12:30 - 1:00 Lunch Break
1:00 - 2:30 Rd III (Hi-Low Power Match)
Awards to follow immediately after last round!
Debate Topics:
"Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its protection of water resources in the United States."
Sept./Oct. LD topic: (Our Fall Open LD Debate will use same topic)
"Resolved: The member nations of the World Trade Organization ought to reduce intellectual property protections for medicines."
"Resolved: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization should substantially increase its defense commitments to the Baltic states."
Judges: Each school is obligated to provide one qualified judge per every 2 Policy, Parli, & Pofo teams,* and one qualified judge per every 4 LD entries.* Don’t forget varsity students can judge. If your judging quota is not met, your entries may be dropped. Judges should have pens, flow pads, and stopwatches.
