James Bowie High School and Lampass High School TFA State and NIETOC Qualifying Tournaments

November 12-13, 2021

Dear Colleagues,

The James Bowie High School and Lampasas High School Forensics Teams would like to invite you to our  TFA State Qualifying IN-PERSON swing Tournament on November 12-13, 2021. We look forward to having you join us on the Bowie High School campus as we look forward to providing an educational, competitive atmosphere for you and your students.

BOTH tournaments are TFA and NIETOC qualifiers this year.

COVID PROTOCOLS for BOTH tournaments:

Per Austin ISD protocols, wearing a face mask that covers the mouth and nose will be required for ALL students, staff, and visitors while on Austin ISD grounds and in AISD buildings.

• Face masks must cover the nose and mouth and fit snugly against the sides of the face.
• Face shields, bandanas, and gaiters may be worn as an additive, but not as the only form of a face mask. Masks with air valves are not allowed. 
• Face masks will be provided for any student, staff, or visitor who arrives without a mask.

We are offering the following TFA Qualifying Events: 

Dramatic Interpretation          Humorous Interpretation Policy Debate

Duet Acting Duo Interpretation Lincoln-Douglas Debate

Original Oratory         Congressional Debate Public-Forum Debate                      

Program Oral Interpretation Informative Speaking World Schools Debate

Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking

In addition, we will offer Prose, Poetry, Novice Prose, Novice Poetry and Novice Extemporaneous Speaking.

International, Domestic and Novice  Extemp, along with Debate events (CX, LD,PF, WSD, Congress) will hold live rounds throughout the duration of the tournament. 

 Novice Extemporaneous Topic: Latin America

Congress: We will use the TFA 2021 Fall Legislation which can be found on the Texas Forensic Association's Website txfa.org.  

Bowie Prelims will use  20 29 30 15 17 and Finals will use 7 12 1 2 4 . 

Lampasas Prelims will use 21 23 24 27 15 and Finals will use 14 9 11 8 3

LD debate will use the 2021 November-December NSDA LD debate topic.  

CX debate will use the 2021-22 CX debate topic.  

PF debate will use the 2021 November-December NSDA PF debate topic

WSD Debate Prepared motions will be 5 and 7 from the list of August-November motions on the TFA website (Space Exploration and House of Representatives).

Debate: We will not breaking brackets in Debate.

Please note that if an event does not reach TFA qualification numbers, we may choose not to offer that event.
