BV Speaking Lynx Invitational

2021

Welcome!  We are excited to host our first annual Speaking Lynx Invitational on October 16, 2021.  We look forward to helping you kick off the 2021-22 Speech seasons with a great tournament experience!

Events -- We are offering single divisions of storytelling and Reader's Theatre as well as Varsity and Novice divisions of Drama, Humor, Duo, NonO, and Poetry.

Awards -- The top three students in each category will receive trophies. Other students in finals will be recognized as finalists.  We also will be awarding the top 3 schools with sweepstakes trophies.

Judges -- We are not offering hired judges.  Please make every effort to cover your entries.  We are requiring 1 judge for every 5 entries or part thereof.  If you need names of judges, please email me.  I have a limited number of judges to connect you with.

Entries -- Entries will be due on October 14 at 6 pm.  At that time, fees will be frozen.  Drops will be accepted online until 6 pm on Friday, October 15.  Any drops after that time should be emailed to gina.koehn@k12.sd.us.

Tournament logistics -- Students can be dropped off on the east side of BVHS (301 S. Splitrock Blvd, Brandon, SD) at door #25.  Busses can find parking on the north side of the building in one of several open parking lots.  Students and/or coaches who drive should park on the east side of the building on the north end across from Pizza Ranch.

Concessions -- We will have a concession stand available throughout the day.  I believe we will have breakfast pizza for sale for students in the morning as well as standard concession stand fare throughout the day.  In addition, we will have a lounge available for coaches and judges.

This is a preliminary schedule.  Depending on entry numbers, we make some minor adjustments to help the day move along more smoothly.
