Robbinsdale Birds of Prey

2021 — Hybrid, MN/US

Robbinsdale Armstrong and Robbinsdale Cooper High School is proud to host their debate tournament on November 20, 2021. The Robbinsdale Birds of Prey promises to offer competitive and exciting tournament action in a simple one-day format.

Public Forum and Congressional debate will be held at Cooper High School
Lincoln-Douglas debate will be held at Armstrong High School

Format: Hybrid.

Please register your students for the tournament as normal.  On Thursday, I will ask each coach to identify which students and judges will be remote.  Your round in theory could be in-person vs an online debate.  Students should bring a laptop or other device to debate with.

Congressional debate is IN-PERSON ONLY!!!  It's simply not possible to pull off what we are going to do with Congress.

NOTE: Public Forum debate will follow MDTA rules and sides are set by tab (coin flip is NOT used).

Lincoln-Douglas: November/December topic: TBD
Public Forum: November topic: TBD
Congress: TBD

You are asked to provide one judge for every two entries LD or PF and 1 per 4 Congress.

In LD and PF.  You need to match your judges to how the students will compete.  For example, if you have four entries in LD and two are in-person and two are online.  You need to provide one in-person judge and one online judge!

Please make sure that judges arrive on time. Teams that arrive without their full complement of judges may be charged for hiring of additional judges or asked to drop entries to allow the tournament to run on time.
If you have questions about your judge commitment, please let me know.

Congressional National Qualifier:
Robbinsdale Cooper will host on November 19th and 20th the 2021-22 Congressional National Qualifier.  As such, there will be only ONE division of Congress for the Birds of Prey tournament as most students will be competing in the National Qualifier.  Of note: You CANNOT share judges between the National Qualifer Tournament and the Birds of Prey Tournament.
Registration: For your convenience, we will accept registrations via this year. You can find the site at.

Registration is due by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, November 18th.  Drops can continue until 7:45 AM Saturday morning.

Fees: $13.50 per entry | Public Forum Team or Lincoln-Douglas debater.  $6 per entry for congressional debate.
