2021 — Hybrid, MN/US

Robbinsdale Armstrong and Robbinsdale Cooper High School is proud to host their debate tournament on November 20, 2021. The Robbinsdale Birds of Prey promises to offer competitive and exciting tournament action in a simple one-day format.

Format: Online & In-Person.

There will be three divisions of IN-PERSON debate for LD and PF (Varsity, JV and Novice).  In addition, we will offer an Open Division of LD and PF.

Congressional debate is IN-PERSON ONLY!!!  It's simply not possible to pull off what we are going to do with Congress.

NOTE: Public Forum debate will follow MDTA rules and sides are set by tab (coin flip is NOT used).

Resolutions & Entry:
Lincoln-Douglas: November/December topic: A just government ought to recognize an unconditional right of workers to strike.
Public Forum: November topic: Increased United States federal regulation of cryptocurrency transactions and/or assets will produce more benefits than harms.
Congress: (IMPORTANT - Look at the bills actually being used for finals.  This legislation is selected from the Nat Quals legislation and items marked on the copy of the legislation might be from Nat Quals.)

The following will be using for the final round:

- A Bill to Promote Green Energy
- A Bill to Make Ranked Choice Voting the National Voting System
- Shrooms Act

As in the past, there is a limit on the number of entries in LD and PF per event of 4 per school.  Please add entries to wait list and will be added as space allows.

You are asked to provide one judge for every two entries LD or PF and 1 per 4 Congress.

In LD and PF.  You need to match your judges to how the students will compete.  For example, if you have four entries in LD and two are in-person and two are online.  You need to provide one in-person judge and one online judge!

Please make sure that judges arrive on time. Teams that arrive without their full complement of judges may be charged for hiring of additional judges or asked to drop entries to allow the tournament to run on time.

If you have questions about your judge commitment, please let me know.

Robbinsdale Cooper will host on November 19th and 20th the 2021-22 Congressional National Qualifier.  As such, there will be only ONE division of Congress for the Birds of Prey tournament as most students will be competing in the National Qualifier.  Of note: You CANNOT share judges between the National Qualifer Tournament and the Birds of Prey Tournament.
