Dear Debate Coach, 

You are invited to the Sacred Heart Annual Debate Knights tournament!

Date: Saturday, November 6, 2021, IN PERSON

Rounds: Registration 7:15 am. R1 8:00 am; R2 9:45 am; R3 11:30 pm; Lunch; R4 1:30 pm; R5 3:00 p.m.

Awards: ASAP. Medals to best 6 in each division; Sweeps trophies to 3 best teams based on the best 4 teams with at least one team in each division.

Divisions: Novice, Open

Novice division: case list not enforced

Evidence: debaters should know how to share evidence/be able to share evidence upon request.

WiFi: will be provided, but we don’t guarantee its stability. Inability to access Internet will not be considered as grounds for grievances.

Topic: Current 2021-22 high school policy debate topic.  

Rules: All KSHSAA rules will be observed –time, evidence sharing, conduct, grievances, etc. 

Entries: $6 per team. We have 20 rooms, so we will accept 6 teams and 4 waitlisted teams until we reach our room capacity. Schools requesting extra entries will be notified when additional rooms would become available. If you have to cancel an entry, please let me know as soon as possible (785-643-7285, text   me!)

Power match: All rounds in all divisions will be prelims. The first two rounds will be pre-set; the last three rounds - power-matched.

Judges: We plan to provide all judges. If we’ll be falling short, I’ll reach out the week before the tournament. Coaches and sponsors may be called in to judge one or two rounds if needed.

Food: Hosp for judges and sponsors. No concession for kids. Salina has a wide variety of food places in close proximity to the school.

Covid-19: We highly encourage all teams and adults to wear masks at all times. Our commons are small and teams are going to sit in a close proximity to each other.
