6th Annual Marshall Spalter Cup Formerly HarBer Speaker Series

We are so excited to be offering the 6th Annual Har-Ber Speaker Series.  We are officially offering the tournament in person and on campus.  One major change this year is the name.  Going forward the tournament will be known as the Marshall-Spalter Cup in honor of the two pioneers of the speech and debate community in the Springdale school district.  

Dear Coaches and Competitors,

 

We are excited to invite you to the 6th annual Marshall-Spalter Cup (Formerly Har-Ber Speaker Series), which will take place on February 18-19, 2022.

 

The Speaker Series offers a high quality and affordable experience to all attendees and is an excellent opportunity to visit the beautiful area of Northwest Arkansas.  The tournament will be held on the Har-Ber High School campus located at 300 Jones Rd. Springdale, AR 72762.  We again this year will be offering bids to University of Kentucky Tournament of Champions National qualifier for Congressional Debate for the top 6 debaters and all Individual Events as well as a NIETOC qualifier corresponding to size. We will offer 4 prelim rounds of individual events, at least 2 prelim rounds of Congressional debate, and 4 prelim rounds of IPDA debate.  We will not be offering PF or LD debate this year.  We will begin holding rounds of Congressional Debate and IPDA Debate on Friday evening.  All other events will begin on Saturday morning.  There will be some restrictions on double entry depending on the event so please make sure that you pay careful attention.

If your school has financial constraints that may prevent you from attending the tournament, email the tournament director at harberspeechanddebate@gmail.com .  Any program in their first year of competition will have entry fees waived, you must email the tournament director as soon as you decide you want to attend.  Missing judges fees may still apply depending on how close to the tournament contact happens for first year programs.
