1st Annual Spring Scholarship Showdown

We are delighted to invite you to The First Annual Spring Scholarship Showdown, hosted by Potomac Debate Academy, held online on April 9-11, 2021.
Zoom Links:
Our tournament will be using separate Zoom links for the Middle School and Open Divisions. Students and judges will sign in to the Zoom for their assigned division (Judge will have their division assignments emailed to them before the tournament starts on Friday). We will be posting rounds here on Tabroom and them inviting students and judges into breakout rooms for each round. Once rounds are completed students and judges are asked to return to the main breakout room to wait for posting for the next round.

We will condense to one Zoom link on Sunday for elimination rounds. That link can be found below:
In order to make things as easy as possible for us to pair/place teams and judges into rooms we are asking teams to label themselves in Zoom with their team name first and the student name second (ex: STMA BF students would label themselves STMA BF – Keith Bistodeau and STMA BF – Jeffrey Fricker). This will let us find partnerships within Zoom so we make sure we get students into the proper breakout room. Judges, we ask that you list your name and put judge in front of your name (ex: Judge – Keith Bistodeau) so we can more easily find you all within Zoom).

Scholarship Awards:
In lieu of trophies, top teams and speakers will receive cash scholarships. Scholarship amounts are as follows:
Team Awards (for both High School and Middle School)
1st Place Team: $2,000 per team
2nd Place Team: $1,000 per team
Speaker Awards (for both High School and Middle School)
1st Place Speaker: $500
2nd Place Speaker: $250
Fees and Judging:
Entry fee per team: $100
Judge obligation: One judge covers three teams per division
All judges must be available for all preliminary rounds, the first elimination round, and for one round beyond elimination of the last contestant from the school that the judge represents. All judges must also have linked Tabroom accounts. Accounts must be linked by April 7, 2021.
The tournament will provide a limited number of hired judges. All hired judges are required to pass an experience screener to ensure judge quality. The hired judge fee is $100 per every uncovered entry. You can request hired judges through Tabroom.
