2021 Lincoln North Star Debate Tournament Invite

Location: NSDA Campus

Saturday January 9th, 2021

Lincoln North Star High School cordially invites you and your squad to compete in our annual Debate Invitational on Saturday, January 9th.  Our tournament is open for registration! Registration information can be found on Tabroom under the tournament title “The NaviGator at NorthStar.” You must use online registration. This year we will offer the following events. (Open & Novice): Public Forum, Lincoln-Douglas, and Congress. We also offer policy debate, but it is in one collapsed pool.

 Dates:

Entries due by 8pm the Tuesday before the tournament (1/6).

Judges due by 5pm the Wednesday before the tournament (1/6).

A Few Notes:

All ballots will be electronic. Make sure your judges and debaters have a linked Tabroom account.

Internet: Students will be allowed to use the internet for email chains/speech drops as needed during rounds. All road maps will be off time. Management reserves the right to handle situations as they arise and as we see fit to best facilitate student learning. We will be using NSDA rules (including current topics).

Please make sure to check-in on Saturday morning to confirm that you have all of your entries. This will help us get off to a smooth and quick start at 8AM sharp. The tabroom on-site check-in opens at 7AM on Saturday.

UPDATE: Our goal for this tournament is to have ample time for competitors to prepare for their rounds and for coaches to coach competitors. To that end, we have created a tournament schedule that is a bit more spaced out, but guarantees each student competing in LD, PF, and CX at least 20 minutes to prepare for their round after pairings are released (With the exception of rounds 1 and 2 since we are the first tournament on a new topic). With that, we will NOT be having an awards ceremony. We will post the prelim speaker awards during the first out rounds. Further, we will be releasing pairings for rounds 1 and 2 on Saturday AT 7:30 so that we can keep the tournament timely.
