Hello Colleagues!

El Campo High School is happy to announce that we are moving forward with our 45th Annual UIL Speech, Drama, and Debate Meet and UIL Academic Meet on January 16 2021. This school year has brought us many opportunities to challenge ourselves. We have decided to meet this head on by offering our meet in a face to face setting following COVID guidelines and procedures. There are several things you need to be aware of before you make the decision to register for our tournament.

We will give preference to our “regular” schools and area schools first. Those schools will have until December 9 to register with preference. Other schools will be waitlisted. After December 9, we will begin taking entries off the waitlist on a first come first served basis.

We will not be hosting a traditional debate meet. We offer 3 face to face rounds of both Novice and Senior CX and LD. We will award top debate awards based off win-loss record, speaker points, and opponents records.

El Campo Students will be participating in some of the events.

Schools will only be allowed to enter 4 students per event as room allows. The maximum number of competitors per event will be 32 in Speaking and in UIL Academic those numbers will change based on space allowed in competition rooms. Please understand, we may not be able to accommodate everyone.

Because of the high demand for our tournament and the need to be able to schedule rounds, judges and sanitation procedures, drop fees will be strictly enforced.

You and your team will be required to wear masks. Areas in the student lounge area will be assigned to schools. You will not be able to change your areas.

Students will not be allowed to cross enter in the same time slot, regardless of the UIL Cross Entry pattern. We cannot accommodate for both speech and academics this year. Your students will need to make a choice is an event is in a conflicting pattern.
