Coaches,

I would like to welcome you to the first-ever East Rutherford Cavalier Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament to be held on Saturday, December 12th, 2020.

We will be utilizing the virtual format provided by the NSDA campus platform.

All events at this tournament will synchronous with exception of Duo Interpretation, which will be asynchronous in order to foster the social distancing of duo partners.

In order to make sure all Duo competitors are on an even playing field, only split-screen Duo recordings will be accepted.  Students may not perform in the same room together.

I would request that only coaches register their teams for this tournament.  For liability purposes, I also require that a school faculty member or an adult approved in writing by the school administration be "virtually" present with the team and available online at all times for the duration of the tournament.  Also, for liability, we are not able to accept independent entries.  Each student must be representing an actual school by name and be registered by an official of that school.

The Cavalier Invitational will offer both JV and Varsity divisions in debate and congress with JV being defined as anyone within their first two years of competition in ANY speech and debate event.  All speech events will be OPEN except for Novice Reading which is for those in their first year and Declamation, which is for those competitors in their first two years of experience.
