de Toledo High School cordially invites you to attend the Seventh Annual dTHS Debate
Invitational, to be held on Sunday, November 15, 2020.
We will offer Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, and Parliamentary Debate.
Lincoln Douglas rounds are double-flighted and all events have outrounds. All competitors are guaranteed three rounds. LD and parli will break to quarters, PF will break to finals
of competition. We will thereby be able to accommodate a significant number of students in each event and provide an excellent competitive experience, all within the span of one day.

EVENTS AND TOPICS
Lincoln-Douglas Debate: The tournament uses the September/October NSDA LD topic Resolved: In a democracy, voting ought to be compulsory. Four minutes of prep time per side.
Public Forum Debate: The tournament uses the September/October NSDA PF topic
Resolved: The United States federal government should enact the Medicare-For-All Act of 2019.Three minutes of prep time per team.
Parliamentary Debate will offer a mixture of fact, value, and policy resolutions throughout the tournament that will be mass-announced at the beginning of prep. After the announcement, students will have 20 minutes to prepare. During the preparation time, competitors may use the Internet and speak to their partner, but no one else.
Speech Events
We will be offering for the first time speech events, but only prerecorded events. Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Program Oral Interpretation, Oratorical Interpretation, Original Oratory/Original Advocacy, and Expos/Informative

JUDGING COMMITMENT
Schools are required to meet the following judging commitments:
-One qualified judge per three (3) LD entries or fraction thereof
-One qualified judge per two (2) Parliamentary debate teams or fraction thereof
-One qualified judge per two (2) Public Forum debate teams or fraction thereof
-One qualified judge per five (5) speech entries of a fraction thereof
Note judges may end up judging any of the events
If your school does not provide judges based on the stipulations above, you will be charged an
“uncovered” entry fee IN ADDITION TO the standard entry fee.
All judges are required to judge three double-flighted preliminary rounds PLUS the first elimination round, regardless of whether their students qualify to the elimination rounds.
Judges may be asked to judge events other than the event they were signed up for in order to meet a school’s judging requirement and the tournament’s judging needs.

*Each uncovered entry must pay the covered entry fee AND the uncovered entry fee.
