2021 TBHS Bolt Blast

Friday and Saturday, January 8 & 9, 2021

Welcome to the 2021 TBHS Bolt Blast. Because of the safety concerns this year, our tournament will be entirely online. We will be accepting entries as usual on a first come basis, but prioritizing Wyoming schools and South Dakota schools from the Hole in the Wall District. Four entries per event per school to start, but please put any others you have on the waitlist and we will take them as we can. Usually all waitlist entries are accepted.

Events

We will be offering our usual events in two pattern. Entry fees are $10 per entry.

D Pattern: CX, LD, PF, Duet, Drama, POI and Senate
HOPE Pattern: Humor, Oratory, Poetry, Extemp, Informative and House

All events are synchronous (live). There will be four preliminary rounds, a semi and a final in all events except Congress. In the Senate and House there will be three preliminary rounds and two super sessions. Note that the final rounds do overlap. Please click the yellow Schedule tab to the right to see the complete schedule.

No doubling within the pattern in CX, LD, PF, Senate, House or Extemp. All others can double at their own risk. Duet time slots will not be adjusted for anyone coming in to the room late.

Deadlines

Please have your initial entries in by December 22, 2020. Feel free to use TBA slots if you want, as long as you promise to fill them with real people and not drop them. We ask that you have names entered and entries finalized by Tuesday, Jan 5, 2021. We will freeze the fees on Wednesday Jan 6, 2021.

We will send out a Zoom link to all registered schools for final registration the week of the tournament.

Awards

We will award awards to the top six places in each event, and to the top 3 places (all semifinalists) in debates. There will be sweepstakes awards in 4A, 3A, and 1A/2A divisions.

Judging

We will be asking for schools to bring a few judges. Basically, one judge for every 8 entries. If you have debaters entered, a judge who will do some debate would be greatly appreciated. Please make sure that all your judges have linked Tabroom accounts. They will only have access to postings, rooms, and ballots if they are linked properly. 

Extra Stuff

Coaches, please be sure to email signed media release forms for all competitors. One email with all forms for the team would be appreciated if possible. The form can be found to the right side of the registration page under School Entry Forms.

Also, it is very important that coaches review all the information in the tabs to the right (in yellow). There is a schedule as well as specific instructions for the events and judges. Please make sure all competitors and judges are aware of that information.
