THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST.  WE ARE CLOSED TO REGISTRATION.  WE HAVE FILLED UP ALL OF OUR SPACES. 

Welcome to the first virtual Spring Woods HS and Memorial HS Speech and Debate Swing Tournament.  We will be hosting all of the TFA qualifying events.  Please make all of your entries through this website. Make checks payable to Spring Woods High School. 

- As of 10/21/20, all debate events are on a waitlist.  Please enter and we will clear as soon as we have secured enough judges. Thank you. 

Debate Resolutions:

Lincoln-Douglas Debate – Resolved: In a democracy, voting ought to be compulsory.

Public Forum Debate - Resolved: The United States federal government should enact the Medicare-For-All Act of 2019.

Policy Debate – Resolved: The United States federal government should enact substantial criminal justice reform in the United States in one or more of the following: forensic science, policing, sentencing.

This year we are offering a TOC BID for all finalists in: FX, DX, OO, DI, HI, DUO, POE, PRO, INFO

WE ARE ALSO A NIETOC BID IN CORRESPONDING INDIVIDUAL EVENTS!   

PLEASE NOTE THAT DUET ACTING IS NOW A NIETOC BID and is an At-Large Event but we will use the TFA Rule for Time Keeping. Duet is now 10 minutes with 30 seconds grace.

(The Memorial Side of Swing is not a TOC or NIETOC bid qualifier.)

Novice LD and PF will use the same topic as Varsity LD and PF.

ALL IE FINALS will be held asynchronously. No live Finals in IE's (except FX, DX and NX, of course.)

WSD – 2 rounds owed per entry. 1 judge can cover 6 rounds/ $25/missing round (2 entries/1 judge)
PF – 2 rounds owed per entry. 1 judge can cover 6 rounds/ $25/missing round (3 entries/1 judge)
LD – 2 rounds owed per entry. 1 judge can cover 6 rounds/ $25/missing round (3 entries/1 Judge)
CX – 3 rounds owed per entry. 1 judge can cover 6 rounds/ $25/missing round (2 entries/1 Judge)
IEs - .5 rounds owed per entry. 1 judge can cover 6 rounds/ $20/missing round (12 entries/1 judge)
Congress - .25 rounds owed per entry. 1 judge can cover 4 rounds/ $25/missing round (12 entries/1 judge)
NLD/NPF - .5 rounds owed per entry. 1 judge can cover 6 rounds/ $15/missing round (12 entries/1 judge)
NCX – 1 round owed per entry. 1 judge can cover 4 rounds/ $15/missing round (4 entries/1 judge)

Round 1 - Impromptu

Round 2 - This House regrets China's investment in Latin America.

Round 3 - This House regrets the narrative that nuclear energy is dangerous.

Semifinals - Impromptu

Finals - This House believes that Russian containment is a priority for geopolitical stability.
