Urban Debate Dragon Invitational

2021 — Washington, Online, DC/US

Hello!

We are excited to invite you to the second Urban Debate Dragon Invitational. This year, the tournament will be run online, but we hope in future years the competition will return to its namesake—the DC International School (whose mascot is a dragon). DCI was a founding partner of the Washington Urban Debate League, and now has a beautiful campus in north D.C., part of the re-development of the Walter Reed Medical Center.

This tournament is the first tournament that awards TOC bids that is completely run by an Urban Debate League, something we are very proud and very cognizant of. Our goal is to offer high level competition and high-level judging for every entrant, with a focus on accessibility and equity. The tournament will feature 6 rounds of preliminary policy debate in the Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Novice Divisions, which are open to entries from anywhere in the nation. Preliminary rounds will start on Friday and conclude on Saturday evening. We will break to Octo-Finals and conclude debates on Sunday like most regional tournaments.

We look forward to bringing together the best competitors from across the North-East/Mid-Atlantic region and beyond, and from urban debate programs across the country, and hope you'll consider joining us this weekend.

Sincerely,

David Trigaux and Dr. Omar Price
