YG Online Summer Speech and Congress Tournament

SAT. JULY 25 - SUN. JULY 26, 2020

Young Genius, Bay Area Speech and Debate Academy, is proud to host competitors from across the country in competition in Competitive Speech and Congressional Debate this coming July.

Students will compete in one of four divisions, depending on their experience level: 

Division 1: Elementary School Speech Events: Students at the 2nd-3rd grade level

Division 2: Elementary School Congress: Students at the 4th-5th grade level

Division 3: Middle School Novice Congress and Speech Events: Students at the 6th-7th grade level, and 8th grade level in their first year of competition

Division 4: Advanced Middle School/High School Congress and Speech Events: Students at the 8th grade with more than one year of experience, plus all high school competitors.

Please note: we may collapse divisions depending on the number of entries. 


Only the Division 4 Advanced Middle School/High School students will advance to final rounds. All other competitors will receive certificates of achievement.

9:30 - 10:15 AM PDT: Round 1 - Speech Events  

11:00 AM - 12:30 PM PDT: Round 2 - Congress

11:30 AM - 12:45 PM PDT: Round 2 - Speech Events

8:45 - 9:00 AM PDT: Tournament Check-In and Announcements

9:00 - 10:30 AM PDT: Round 3 - Congress Events

9:30 - 10:15 AM PDT: Round 3 - Speech Events

11:00 AM - 12:15 PM PDT: Final Round - Congress (High School and Advanced Middle School only)

11:30 AM- 12:45 PM PDT: Final Round - Speech Events (High School and Advanced Middle School only)

1:30 PM PDT: Awards Ceremony
