KHSSL State Debate Tournament
2020 — LOUISVILLE, KY/US
Greetings Debaters!
It's time to go for KHSSL glory!
Please make sure to take time to read through the posted invitation. A few highlights everyone needs to make sure you are aware of:
a. This tournament will use ONLINE BALLOTS for judging. That means that each judge MUST use a laptop or tablet to judge -- no phones. U of L has a great guest WiFi network we can all easily use.
b. A novice debater shall be defined as any student in his/her first year of debate. That means if a student competed at Congress one time in a prior year or in a debate round one time in a prior year, that student is now a Varsity debater.
c. All tournament participants -- competitors, judges, and coaches -- should be connected to Tabroom to receive postings for rounds and for general informational purposes. Please sign up for a Tabroom account if you have not -- directions posted.
d. KHSSL has implemented several new Congressional Debate rules this year. A quick summary:
* Only NEW legislation may be submitted for KHSSL Congress. Violating this rule is a violation of the Code of Ethics.
* Schools must upload legislation through Tabroom as part of their entry; limit of three items per school.
* Students MUST use established templates to write legislation. That includes double-spacing, single page, and line numbers. See this website to download:
https://www.congressionaldebate.org/resources/legislation-templates.
LEGISLATION SUBMISSION DEADLINE FOR CONGRESS IS WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 26. SCHOOLS WILL RECEIVE LEGISLATION PACKETS BY WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4.
Let's have a great KHSSL State Debate Tournament!
