Panther Invitational

2020 — Wright, WY/US

Dear Coaches,

The Wright High School Speech and Debate team would like to invite you to the first ever Panther Invitational Speech Tournament to be held on Friday and Saturday, March 6th and 7th, 2020. Schools wishing to attend our meet will be entered on a first come, first served basis. We currently have a cap for each school of 6 entries. Please use the waitlist feature, as I am sure we will be able to pull everyone off the waitlist, although there is no guarantee with our school size. Be sure to prioritize the student choices.

We will be running the traditional patterns, D and HOPE, with Congress in the HOPE round. We will be running the E Docket in the Congress rounds. Please bring a copy of the Congress legislation. Super Congress bills will be taken from the 2019 National Tournament.

There will be no doubling within the pattern.

We will be using the NSDA March/April LD topic, and the NSDA March PF topic.

We are offering LD and PF debate, Congress, HI, DI, DUO, Poetry, POI, INF, OO, and Extemp. CX Debate will not be offered, although Worland is hosting the same weekend and they do offer CX.

Poetry and POI competitors must use a manuscript. All other events are memorized. Informatives may use visual aids.

Extemp questions will be taken from March, February, and January NFHS, available through the link in the State Newsletter Londe sends out each month, and NSDA questions (available on the NSDA site). These will be international and domestic topics.

We are asking each school to supply a minimum of one debate judge AND one IE judge. Please register your judges under the Judges tab on Tabroom when you register your entries. Any extra judges who wish to accompany your team would be extremely appreciated. Although we would love to avoid having coaches judge rounds, it seems it will very likely be the case, so please be prepared to judge rounds.

Fees: $9.00 per entry, making PF/Duet $18.00. There will be no refunds for drops after 5 p.m. on March 4th.

Dinner will be available on Friday. It will be walking tacos and will cost $8.00. This will include toppings, bags of chips, a dessert, and water Please indicate at registration the number of meals requested. There will be no refunds for meals dropped after 5 p.m. on March 4th. There will be concessions available on Saturday. Please be sure to advise your team to bring extra cash for that.

There will be a wrestling meet on Friday/Saturday as well, so please advise your students to use caution with their valuables. Please do not allow students to use speakers with their electronic devices in the cafeteria. There are a limited number of outlets, so your team might want to bring a strip to help alleviate this.

Registration will be from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Friday, March 6th, in the lobby area near the front doors. Buses can drop students off at the front doors, and as there is no school on Friday, buses can park in the rear parking lot or near the bus barn behind the school. Students will be asked to assemble in the cafeteria. There will be local restaurant information included in your registration folder.

Trophies will be awarded to the first place finishers in each event. Medals will be awarded to the 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each event.

Sweepstakes trophies will be awarded to first place in 4A, 3A, and 1A/2A categories as determined by WHSAA. All team entries count as a single entry towards sweepstakes. Sweepstakes points will be awarded for semi and final round placement only.

The hospitality room will be in the FACS room (there will be a sign) and this will also house the ballot bags. Coaches, judges, and drivers are welcome to use the hospitality room, and judges can use the room to finish up their ballots.

Please contact us at dmann@ccsd1schools.net if you have any questions or issues. I have not used Tabroom before so I may have inadvertently set something up improperly, which would not allow you to register as you would like.

Thank you for coming to our tournament! We look forward to seeing you!
