Qualifying Tournament

 

 

Dear Forensic Coaches: 

The ATHS Speech and Debate Team cordially invite you and your students to attend the

2019 Alief Taylor TFA Qualifying Tournament. Our qualifier(s) will be held Friday, December 6th and Saturday, December 7th 2019 on the campus of Alief Taylor High School in Houston, Texas. 

We will offer four (4) preliminary rounds of Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, and Cross-Examination Debate. We will also offer one 4-hr preliminary session of Congressional Debate, as well as two (2) preliminary rounds of: Original Oratory, DUO Interpretation, Duet Acting, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Poetry, Prose, Impromptu, International and Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, Informative, and Program Oral Interpretation (NSDA Rules apply for POI). 

Entries must be entered on Joy of Tournaments no later than Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. Please do not email, fax, or phone in entries – they will not be accepted in this manner. 

This year, we are happy to announce that all Policy, LD, and PF rounds will be located on Tabroom.com. All competitors and school judges must create a Tabroom.com account to link students and judges to pairings once released.

Drops after Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. will incur a double drop fee assessed from the original entry fee. Day of drops will incur a triple fee assessed from the original entry fee. Drops will be recorded and billed to schools upon completion of the tournament. For more information on events, see the General Info/Fees tab.

In response to the TFA amendment, Alief Taylor High School can and will NOT be held responsible for lost or damaged computers/laptops/tablets. Students must leave their computers/laptops/tablets in draw while they are in the competition room and students will not be allowed back into the draw room until extemp draw has been completed (if a student decides to use the devices during extemp draw).  Furthermore, Alief Taylor High School will not provide power sources for laptop use.
