We are thrilled to host The Dowling Catholic Paradigm December 13-15, 2019. We are looking forward to our annual competition with numerous TOC bids, participating schools from across the country, and quality awards. Each year we strive to improve upon the past year's tournament. As you make plans to attend, check back for important information about the locations of the tournament this year. Additionally, below are some important updates for the 2019 Paradigm:
1) The tournament hotel has moved! We will be using the Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel in downtown Des Moines. This change provides teams access to not just competitive pricing, but more options for feeding your students. Reservations need to be made by November 15 to secure the tournament rate of $104/night. To make reservations call 515-244-2151 and ask for the Dowling Catholic Paradigm rate. If you are bringing a charter bus please email Steve Schappaugh (skschappaugh@gmail.com) to discuss parking options. We have made special arrangements to accommodate a charter bus, however, we need to communicate about this in advance! If anyone runs into issues with the hotel, do not hesitate to reach out to Steve.
2) The tournament will follow the updated PF rules that the NSDA announced. The changes can be found on page 24 of the NSDA unified manual (https://www.speechanddebate.
3) This year we are running a two-day Congressional Debate tournament. Students who enter Congress must compete both Friday and Saturday to be entered.
4) There will be changes to the venues this year to better accommodate guests. Changes will be posted soon.
