Wayne State Ziegelmueller Invitational

Dear Colleagues:

We cordially invite you to join us for the Fourth Annual Dr. George W. Ziegelmueller Invitational Tournament (AKA “The Ziggy”) at Wayne State University in Midtown Detroit. This year’s tournament will be held on Friday-Sunday, October 25-27, 2019.  All debates will occur in Manoogian Hall: 906 W. Warren Avenue, Detroit, MI 48201.

We will offer three divisions of policy debate with six rounds of preliminary debates, followed by an appropriate number of elimination debates, in each division. Please manage tournament entry through Tabroom.com, from September 1st until October 18th at 11:59 PM EST. Dropped entries or participants after October 18th at 11:59pm EST are subject to a drop fee (equal to the participant fee per individual).

Please take note of a special George Ziegelmueller Memorial Brunch, in honor of our Late and Great Director of Forensics. The brunch will take place at 11:00am on Sunday, and will be run in conjunction with our award ceremony. 

Fees are $65 per person (debater, coach, judge, observer, or hired judge not covered by another team). We will provide every meal from Friday Dinner through Sunday Brunch. If entry fees or hotel costs are prohibitive for your program, or you are a new program, please contact us and we will assist as much as possible.

We will be using the Holiday Inn and Suites Downtown for the tournament hotel. The rate is $119.00 per night for two doubles plus parking. Once you populate the dates, the rate and room type will show. Please make your reservations by October 3rd to secure the group rate.
