Directions
From the west (north end of the valley) - take the 118 East to I-5 South toward Los Angeles. Get off at Burbank Blvd. Turn left go straight for two blocks, staying in a lane that goes straight across San Fernando Road. The street ends in front of the school. Turn left to reach the parking garage.

From the west (south end of the valley) - Take the 101 East to the 134 toward Pasadena. Get off at Victory - the L. A. Zoo exit. Turn left (heading north) on Victory to Burbank Blvd. Turn right, travel 3 blocks (over the freeway), staying in a lane that goes straight across San Fernando Road. The street ends in front of the school. Turn left to reach the parking garage. 


STUDENTS ARE TO REPORT TO THE CAFETERIA.   

Coaches and judges report to the library - follow the signs, guides will be available to assist you.  PARKING: You may park in the parking garage at the end of the block or on the street.

Fee:

Mandatory School Fee of $20.00, plus $10.00 per event ($20.00 per Duo). Make checks payable to TCFL.League and CHSSA dues must be previously paid or entries will not be accepted.


Judges:

Each school must provide 1 qualified judge for every 6 entries. This will be strictly enforced. School commitment must be met or students will not compete. Judges must be 2 year out of high school.

Judges must report by 4:45 PM on Friday and by 8:15 AM on Saturday, and should remain for the entire tournament, or be replaced by an equally qualified judge. [It helps if judges can bring a stopwatch, scratch paper, pencils and pens.]


Entries:

Only students who have completed a TCFL Open Tournament or Congress during the ‘18 -'19 season may enter. Students may triple enter, but no more than 2 entries per panel. Extemp entries may not double enter within the same panel except for Impromptu.  Each school is limited to 7 entries per category.  Multiple winners must yield at the tournament.

1:30pm - 3:30pm - Semis & Finals of Pattern A

3:30pm - 5:30pm - Semis & Finals of Pattern B

5:30 - 6:00 - Dinner

6:00pm - 7:30pm - All remaining Finals of Pattern A

7:30pm - 9:00pm - All remaining Finals of Pattern B

Awards to immediately follow ( If it can begin sooner, it will.)

NOTE: After 2 preliminary rounds, events will break to elimination rounds. Large events (3 Panels) will break to semis, smaller events will break directly to finals. There will be 7 finalists in each event; all finalists will receive awards. As food will be readily available, students must not leave campus. Students who miss rounds will be given "No Shows" and there will be no make-ups.

Deadline: 

Tuesday, March 19, 2019. You may e-mail your entry by 10pm to jrobinson9812@att.net.   No faxes will be accepted. I need the names and events of each contestant.  No fee will be assessed for drops that take place before paneling. Please check website Tuesday night to see if the count is accurate.  Please notice the deadline!

Paneling:

4:00 PM Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at Monroe. All coaches must attend or make arrangements to get the paneling cards to us by 5pm. Coaches will be assigned tournament duties. Bring all names with you! Codes will be given and names will be placed on cumes at this time. Schools will NOT be entered without the coach present. Only one round will be set. Paneling cards will be used. Bring the titles and topics of your entries with you as this information will go on the paneling card. Be prepared to "seed" your entries.  THIS IS THE LAST DAY TO SUBMIT A FIXED SCRIPT—MUST BE 100% CORRECT! 

 

Because of the differences that exist in human perception, a subjective quality is present in the scoring of Speech and Debate rounds. Even with rules and evaluation criteria for guidance,  judges will not evaluate the same performance in an identical manner. While we do everything possible to maintain consistency in scoring, winning results are not guaranteed.
