WSD APPLICATION FOR G8 – 12 (10 students selected for the U.S. nationals)

Ten World School Debate students (grades 8-12) will be qualified by ADL to form two “WSD Taiwan” teams for the U.S. Nationals to be held in the third week of June in the U.S. This will look great on your college portfolio, as you are representing your country Taiwan. Read more about it here https://www.speechanddebate.org/nationals/.

Qualification process will begin after the NSDA Taiwan District Tournament (first week of April). If you are interested, please follow the necessary steps below.

Answer the questions 1, 2, 3 below and email them to Jessie Chen <jc@asiandebateleague.com>.

  1. Are you able to finance your trip to the US? If your answer is no, you cannot be qualified.
  2. Are you able to attend all after school and weekend practices as requested by the WSD coach in the month of May and June? If your answer is not yes, then tell us about your limitations.
  3. Explain what relevant experiences you have that have prepared you to compete successfully at the U.S. National World Schools Debate Championship. Please limit such references to “team debate” competitions, as opposed to MUN and other individual events.

Top priority will be given to students who have already competed in PF, LD, or Policy event and performed well in the April Taiwan District tournament.

You can read more about how USA Debate Team for WSD is selected and trained here https://www.speechanddebate.org/usa-debate/

WSD APPLICATION FOR G5 – 8 (all students can go to the U.S. nationals)

For students grades 5-8, ADL can send an unlimited number of WSD Taiwan teams to the NSDA Nationals Middle school Championship without the above qualifications, but you must leave your 1) name, 2) grade, and 3) school here by clicking comment.
