General Information

EVENTS: Congressional Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, Dramatic Performance (NOT SPLIT), Duo Interpretation of Literature, Extemporaneous Speaking (MIXED), Oral Interpretation of Literature, Oratorical Declamation, Original Oratory. All events are governed by the NCFL Bylaws. The entry limit per school is SIX (6) entries per event.

• Lincoln-Douglas Debate will use the 2019 NCFL Nationals resolution.
• Public Forum Debate will use the April 2019 topic.

DRESS CODE: Casual, including pajamas. Please be advised that pajama choices should adhere to established Hillsborough County school dress codes.  Pajamas should not be revealing and should cover undergarments.  Shorts length should meet the “fingertip” rule. Pajama bottoms may not have open fly…they should be sewn shut or buttoned.  Onesies, hoodie-footies, and slippers are welcomed.  Duo and PFD may twin-dress, but competitors should not costume to fit their pieces.  Please inquire directly if there are specific dress code questions.

COST: $20.00 per competitor (includes registration and lunch). Judges and observers pay $10.00 for additional lunch meal on Saturday. Coach meals will be complimentary.

FOOD: Closed campus. Please remember to order meals for all competitors, judges, and coaches. Order any additional lunches Please email any special food requests and your total lunch numbers to Jennifer Bell at jcbell764@gmail.com by April 26, 2019. Vegetarian selections will be made available.

JUDGING REQUIREMENTS: One (1) judge for every four (4) IE entries. One (1) judge for every four (4) Congress entries (separate from IE judges). One (1) judge for every two (2) LD entries. One (1) judge for every two (2) PFD team entries. Judges must be available for the entire tournament. COACHES: Please do NOT count yourself in your judge quota!

Registration Instructions

Register on pj.tabroom.com (click the “Register” tab)
DEADLINE: Friday, April 26, 2019, at 9:00 p.m. EDT

Please be certain to send all required information including student names in correct events, and judge names and conflicts in pools of IE, Congress, LD, or PFD. Your number of judges in each pool must match the student entries.  You will also be expected to bring original source material for all IE events (e.g. the BOOK or SCRIPT of the original work). 

We will be implementing a "nuisance" fee of $10.00 for any change after the registration date other than a simple drop. If you want to ADD competitors or CHANGE NAMES after the deadline you will incur this fee. Please make sure you have placed competitors in the proper events, that judge and student names are correct, and that all information is accurate before turning in your final registration materials. Again, any change after will incur the fee.

Changes after the start of the tournament (hidden drops, missed judge calls, etc.) will incur a $25.00 fee.

TOURNAMENT DAY REGISTRATION: 7:30 a.m. on Saturday in the Media Center. Only the team coach or authorized and knowledgeable adult designee should process through the registration line.  Students should report to the Cafeteria.  Judges should report to the Media Center.

Student Congress Information

All Congress materials will be posted to pj.tabroom.com. It is the responsibility of coaches and students to check regularly for new and updated materials.

LEGISLATION: Every school entering Student Congress is expected to supply one (1) piece of legislation for every (2) participants in Student Congress.  Legislation must satisfy the FGCCFL template requirement.

Coaches must PERSONALLY review and submit all legislation. All legislation is to be e-mailed to Josh Schneider <joshschneider@me.com> or uploaded to Tabroom by coaches only; submissions from students will not be reviewed or acknowledged.  The deadline to submit legislation is 11:59 p.m. EDT on Friday, April 19. Late, frivolous, stale, or recycled items WILL NOT be considered.

Schools will be given one opportunity to repair unsatisfactory legislation.  All revisions must be received no later than 11:59 PM EDT on Monday, April 22.  Late resubmissions WILL NOT be considered.  The final packet will be published by Wednesday, April 24.

PRESIDING OFFICERS: All legislators are eligible to serve.
