PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN SCHEDULE OF THE CRESTIAN POLICY CLASSIC!!!!

Dear Colleagues:

It’s my pleasure to invite you to the 2020 Crestian Classic Policy Debate Tournament on Friday, February 14, 2020 to Sunday, February 16, 2020.  The Crestian Classic is a Quarterfinal bid to the University of Kentucky’s Tournament of Champions.  The Crestian Classic has been held for over three decades at Pine Crest Preparatory School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  We have made adjustments to the schedule to start earlier on Friday. (Note Schedule Below). This will enable freer evenings throughout the tournament.  

This year Michael Greenstein will return as tab director.  Returning this year are the Judge’s Lounge shrimp bowl, free lunch Friday and Saturday.   Also returning bagels and cream cheese breakfast Saturday and Sunday for purchase, the best judge pool of any Tournament our weekend (better than Harvard and Berkeley), and a comfortable schedule that gets you out by 7:00 in the evening and gives you President’s day off to enjoy South Florida or to relax and prepare for the work week. As always, the hired judge pool will contain critics highly qualified to judge any type of debate. 

We also retain the Tournament Hotel, The Sheraton Suites Cypress Creek Fort Lauderdale. (http://www.sheratonsuitesfortlauderdale.com or 954-772-5400 ask for Pine Crest Debate and Forensics 2020 block).  The Sheraton Suites have rooms capable of housing 4 students with ease and more with an additional charge of $10.00 per night per student over two.

There are three international airports less than an hour’s drive from our Tournament Hotel and School.  (MIA about 50 minutes, FLL about 25 minutes and PBI about 45 minutes).

We are again using www.Tabroom.com for tournament registration.  We will also use the electronic ballot feature of that site.

Ask for the Pine Crest Debate and Forensics 2020 rate.  This is extremely important. Please book early so we can expand the block if necessary. 

The reduced rate for The 2020 Crestian is $159.00/night plus tax. Note that the rooms are suites with pull out sofa beds and double queens allowing four to 6 children comfortably. (Five Dollars extra for the third student and Ten dollars extra per night for each student above three).  Please do business with our Tournament Hotel.  The cut-off date for Crestian Reservations is Friday, January 17, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time. Please book rooms through the above numbers.  Reservations are non-refundable if cancelled within 72 hours of guest arrival.

Dining choices directly across the street from the Hotel include Five Guys Burgers, Hooters, Sweet Tomatoes, Longhorn Steakhouse, and others.  Within three minutes driving time are Chili's, McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, Arby's, Grande Pizza and others.  Within ten minutes are Outback, Fridays, Moe's Southwestern, Bonefish Grill and others.

Please make checks payable to Pine Crest Schools.  It is preferred that you forward checks to us prior to the tournament by US mail.  If that is not practical, present Mr. Lewis or Mr. Hammond in the tab room with the check for fees on the First Day of the tournament, Friday, February 14, 2020.
