October 28 Update--Student Waiver

We have posted a waiver form that must be completed for all students attending the tournament.  You can download it from the list at right.  As with other institutions, Vassar is concerned about liability.  The completed forms can be scanned and emailed to us or you may bring them to registration on November 3.

October 16 Update

A Parli Style Guide and Judges Guide have been posted.

Vassar College has given us more space.  We have room for 100 teams, and are clearing the wait list up to 8 teams per school.  Please get your entries in as soon as you can.

We do not have any lodging partners, so if you plan to stay overnight you will need to make your own arrangements.  There are a number of hotels in the Poughkeepsie area near the College.

We can provide some transportation to/from hotels and/or the train station.  Please email us if you need transportation so we can plan times and routes.

Original Notice

On behalf of the Vassar Debate Society, we invite you and your team to the third annual Vassar College Invitational Tournament from Saturday, November 3rd, to Sunday, November 4th. The tournament will consist of competition in Varsity and Novice Parliamentary Debate.  

You will find a full downloadable invitation with registration and tournament details in the column to your right.  There will also be posted shortly a Parli Style Guide and a Parli Judging Guide that briefly describe the debate format and approach to judging we prefer.  We generally follow American Parliamentary Debate Association format and guidelines, and you can find a more complete treatment along with educational materials on their web site, http://apda.online/ .
