Grady HS Carter King Quest for the Dream

2018 — Atlanta, GA/US

Dear Colleagues-

We are pleased to invite you to the 10th Annual Carter/King Quest for the Dream.

This tournament is an Individual Events Tournament of Champions qualifier as well as a qualifier for the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions.

We will follow Georgia Forensic Coaches Association guidelines as well as National Speech and Debate Association guidelines.

This year we will be patterning Individual Events and Student Congress. You can find what pattern has what events and the entry restrictions on the "Events" page found on the right side of this screen. ADDENDUM ON 10/31. WE WILL NOT BE OFFERING CONGRESS AT THE TOURNAMENT THIS YEAR AS WE WANT TO FOCUS ON RUNNING SPEECH PATTERNS AT THIS YEAR'S TOURNAMENT.

NOTE: We will, when able, place more than one judge in Individual Event rounds. That may mean one round has 2 judges, the next has 1, the next, 3. This is the way we choose to run the tournament, given the overwhelming interest in our community to judge rounds. We will follow the GFCA rule and drop the worst score of all judges ONLY if there is at least one round with multiple judges. Otherwise final placement and/or advancement to elimination rounds would be judged on two scores. The tournament director will have the final say regarding any issues regarding judges and judge placement.

Extemp topic and Impromptu topic areas, as well as Congressional Legislation, will be posted by November 1.

IF NUMBERS ARE LARGE, WE WILL UTILIZE INMAN MIDDLE SCHOOL FOR LINCOLN-DOUGLAS DEBATE. THE DECISION WILL BE MADE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Inman Middle School is 1/2 mile from the Grady HS campus. We have utilized it in the past.

We hope you join us for great competition and great hospitality. Don't hesitate to contact us should you have any questions.
