Jim Sauer Invitational at La Crosse Central

2018 — La Crosse, WI/US

September 2, 2018

Dear Colleagues:

The La Crosse Central Debate Team is excited to invite you and your students to “Debate Under the Bluffs” at the Jim Sauer Invitational Tournament on October 12-13, 2018. This is our first year hosting a regular season tournament after a brief hiatus, and we appreciate the support from the community in restarting this tournament. Our goal is to foster competitive excellence in a wide range of debate events. It is our intention to provide a highly competitive regional tournament for Wisconsin and surrounding states.

The tournament will include a novice and open division of policy. We may run separate open/novice divisions of PF and LD if entries allow. A few highlights of our tournament: We will be hosting a two-day tournament for novice policy debaters. Sitting at the corner of the tri-state area but still easily accessible from I-90, we hope to provide an opportunity for circuits to meet—debaters, coaches, and judges should plan to meet new faces and arguments. (Because we hope to see novice policy debaters from multiple circuits, novice packets/arguments may differ. We will ask all entrants to provide a case outline and a list of negative off-case arguments to be run.)

We hope to welcome you and your team to La Crosse this October. In addition to the competitive opportunities, mid-October is peak fall foliage season in La Crosse, and with the Mississippi River and surrounding bluffs, it can be particularly enjoyable this time of year.

Sincerely,

Ben Hamburger, Debate Coach
La Crosse Central High School
