Dear WVSDA members and Associates:

     It’s time once again to get festive at the Isenhart Speech and Debate tournament!  We hope to see all of you at Parkersburg High, and we look forward to a wonderful day of competition.

Lunch:  Pizza and various concessions available for students in the cafeteria

Isenhart will feature three rounds of competition with no final round.  Students may enter up to two events per section.  Debaters may double enter within the same section as their debate round except Public Forum contestants may not enter Broadcasting and Lincoln-Douglas contestants may not enter Extemp given the prep time requirements.

Public Forum Debate –

Resolved: The United States federal government should impose price controls on the pharmaceutical industry. (Nov/Dec 2018)

Lincoln-Douglas Debate –

Resolved: In a democracy, the public’s right to know ought to be valued above the right to privacy of candidates for public office. (Nov/Dec 2018)

Impromptu Round Topics

 Round 1 = Ordinary Things; Round 2 = People/Characters; Round 3 = Quotes

Broadcasting Rounds

Round 1 = Prepared TV news - No preparation time

Round 2 = TV news - 15 minutes of preparation time

Round 3 = Edited Radio news - 30 minutes of preparation time
