Event Description:

Tournament Rules and Regulations

1. All teams will be debating this year’s resolution –

Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its protection of water resources in the United States.

2. All debates will use the standard 8-3-5 cross-examination format with 8 minutes prep time per team per round.

3. Following KSHSAA’s rule: Computers will be allowed, and INTERNET access will be provided. Please keep in mind that teams may NEVER unplug anything to plug-in their laptops.

4. We will be following KSHSAA rules.

5. Cancellations will result in rescheduling, substitution of host teams, or byes.

5. No maverick, three person teams, and / or scouting will be allowed.

6. Teams more than 15 minutes late to any round without the fault of the tournament may forfeit that round on a 7.

7. Registration fees will be $6.00 per team, or as you would charge per team at your tournament. Entry deadline is on Tuesday, 10/05. Entries received after this time may be accepted at the host’s discretion. Fees will be forfeited in case of cancellation after the entry deadline, which is the Tuesday before the tournament.

8. Coaches and/or sponsors will be required to stand by for judging if necessary. We will try to get enough judges for the day. We reserve the right to use 3rd or 4th year debaters as judges in novice division if necessary.

9. Medals will be awarded to the teams that are 6th place and up.
