Freeze Improv
Event Description:
Given a starting scenario, each student will partner with every other student in the flight.
according to a set order to create various short scenes, a la 'Whose Line is it Anyway?' After a scene has gone on for at least 60 seconds, and before it reaches 90 seconds, the next student in line will yell FREEZE and take the place of a student already in the scene. The new pair will then begin to act out a fresh scene, starting from the positions they were frozen in.
1)Competitors will draw numbers for order, identify themselves, and write said number on the board.
2)The round will begin with competitors #1/#2 in a scene, and the judge will give the scenario to begin.
3)Each scene will last for a minimum of 30 seconds, at which point the judge will give a time signal. At one minute the judge will give a time signal. By 1:30 the scene must end.
4)At any time between 60 and 90 seconds the next competitor in line may yell ‘Freeze”. The competitors in the scene will stop exactly in the position they were in.
5)The competitor who just froze the scene will tap out the person who has been in the scene the longest and assume their position.
6)The competitor who has entered the scene will restart it. He or she can choose to continue the previous scene or may begin a new one entirely. The other competitor must ‘go with it’.
7)When a competitor is tagged out he or she will await their turn and tag out the next person when it is their turn again.
8)If numbers in the room permit, each competitor will go exactly three times and no two competitors will appear in a scene together more than once.
