Event Description:
Policy Debate, also known as Cross-Examination Debate, consists of two-person teams using the 8-3-5 switch side format debating issues of policy under the national resolution. The 2014-2015 national resolution which will be used is Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its non-military exploration and/or development of the Earth's oceans. NFL rules apply. A few highlighted rules include:
- Each team must consist of two debaters from the same school.
- Each team will be alloted 5 minutes of Prep Time each round.
- Electronic storage/retrieval devices (laptops, tablets, phones) are permitted but Internet connectivity and messaging is not permitted during the round.
