Event Description:
SPAR Debate Format
Each round will consist of 6 debaters, with two debaters directly debating each other.
The round will follow this format:
- 2 minutes — Pro
- 2 minutes — Con
- 4 minutes — Questions/Crossfire
- 2 minutes — Pro
- 2 minutes — Con
During the 4-minute question period, any debater may ask questions.
Judges should rank the overall performance of each debater, similar to how competitors are ranked in a speech event. Judges should consider the debater’s arguments, delivery, responsiveness, and overall effectiveness throughout the round.
