Event Description:
In Impromptu, competitors will receive a topic and prepare a short speech with limited preparation time. Speakers should clearly address the topic, organize their ideas, and deliver an engaging, well-supported speech.
Rules:
- Competitors will receive a topic at the beginning of the round.
- Competitors will have 2 minutes to prepare.
- Speeches should be approximately 5 minutes in length.
- Competitors may use a 3x5 notecard during preparation and speaking.
- No outside research or electronic devices may be used during preparation.
- Speakers will be evaluated on organization, content, delivery, and ability to develop the topic.
- Judges should provide constructive feedback and rank competitors based on the quality of their overall performance.
