Event Description:

Public Forum Debate is a team-based event designed to engage students in accessible, real-world policy and value debates. Teams of two debate a current, nationally selected topic, with sides (Pro/Con) assigned each round.

Each round consists of constructive speeches, rebuttals, summaries, and final focuses, followed by a decision rendered by the judge based on argumentation, evidence comparison, and impact analysis. Speed and excessive jargon are discouraged; debates should be understandable to an informed lay judge. Competitors are expected to demonstrate professionalism, respect, and adherence to all tournament and school conduct policies.
