Impromptu Speaking
Event Description:
Rules from the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA) for Impromptu Speaking:
Impromptu (IMP) is a public speaking event where students have seven minutes to select a topic, brainstorm their ideas, outline, and deliver a speech. The speech is given without notes and uses an introduction, body, and conclusion. The speech can be lighthearted or serious. It should be based on the following four options provided:
* "Your identity is your most valuable possession. Protect it." – The Incredibles
* "Sometimes you gotta get through your fear to see the beauty on the other side" – The Good Dinosaur
* "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think." – The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh
* "Do not be fooled by its commonplace appearance. Like so many things, it is not what is outside, but what is inside that counts." – Aladdin
