Event Description:
Extemporaneous Speaking
Each student draws three topics and is allowed 1 minute to choose 1 topic. Students are then allowed 30 minutes to prepare a 7-minute (30-second grace) speech without conversing with their coach or other individuals. This event follows a speech pattern with an introduction, body, and conclusion, rather than a theatrical performance. The topics will be a variety of current issues students are allowed to utilize laptops and the internet during their preparation time. One 3”x5” index card may be used (student must bring card).
