Event Description:

This event is a speech event. Speakers will have 7 minutes to deliver a public address based upon this years speech type. Competitors will be judged by the participants in the Student's Revenge competition. Topic is up to the competitors discretion, but must fall within the selected oratorical category. This event is open to all alumni, coaches, parents, etc... You cannot currently be a HS student or on an active HS Speech and debate team. Finals will be held if there are more than 8 entries in the event.

2008 Spring Fling oratory category- Expository
The purpose of an expository speech is to inform. This can include speeches to explain, instruct, or demonstrate. It may include the use of narrative or descriptive elements as support. In an expository speech, main points and sub-points constitute the main divisions of the basic idea to be developed. Supporting material gives the message substance. It clarifies, amplifies, and develops ideas. Competitors may use note cards. Use of visual aids is encouraged, but not required. Time limit: 7 minutes (30 second grace)

Note: Visual aids requiring power, overhead projectors, or other electronic projection/computer aided visuals will not be allowed.
