Set Design (West Side Story)

Event Description:

$75 (10-15) Student Entries

$100 (15-40) Student Entries **ALL ENTRY MONEY WILL GO TO TROPHIES AND MEDALS FOR STUDENTS**

Theatrical Set Design Event will submit pictures to the contest manager a week before the competition. The theme for the theatrical design entries for this conference is “West Side Story.” The students should take inspiration from the musical or play and they may interpret the play however they like.

Set Design

a) The student will design floor plans showing from above the general layout of each set and the placement of the furniture and large props.

b) The student will also design a miniature three-dimensional model showing how each set will look when finished.

c) The student should make sure that their floor plan and model show their complete vision for the set design.

d) The director will submit non-filtered photographs of the model from a front view, left and right view, and a bird’s eye view.

e) The director will also submit a scan of the floor plan in pdf format.

f) Students must also write a 100-word maximum explanation of how they addressed the prompt that the directors will submit in pdf format.

g) The submissions are due a week before the contest by midnight.
